BATES COUNTY, Mo – The donations for the restoration of the 1877 Steinway Grand Piano donated to the Bates County Museum are coming from far and near. Contributions have been received from local contributors, one made in memory of a past piano teacher and another a band leader and from people who just have a passion for good music.
As of April 9th, a total of $28,040 has been donated, halfway to the goal of $50,000. Peggy Buhr, Bates County Museum Director, wants to express the Museum’s appreciation to everyone who has made a donation in any amount to this worthy cause,
The 1877 Steinway piano will be shipped to the Steinway factory in New York where it will begin the year-long restoration process. The restored piano will then return to the Bates County Museum where it will take a place of honor and be used for special events, recitals and various community events.
You have the opportunity to be part of history when you make a contribution, large or small, but it won’t happen without people catching the vision. Donors of $100 or more will receive a certificate of appreciation that designates them as a Preservation Patron.
To make a contribution, contact Peggy Buhr via e-mail at director@batescountymuseum.org, by telephone at 660-679-0134 or make a donation through Pay Pay at “go fund me”. A contribution in any amount will be appreciated.
