Update On Stabbing in Amsterdam

From the Bates County Sheriffs Office:

On 04-12-2015 Bates county deputies responded to a stabbing that had occurred in the Amsterdam area. Deputies received information that the stabbing victim was an adult black male.

The victim was located at Leona’s gas station in Amsterdam. The victim was treated for his wounds and transported to the Bates County Memorial Hospital.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that the suspect, an adult Hispanic male had fled the scene on foot. The suspect and victim, who were both from Kansas, had gone to the Amoret store to buy cigarettes because they are cheaper in Missouri. The store was closed so they decided to drive to a different store. On the way the male subjects got into a verbal argument about where they should go to buy the cigarettes. The argument resulted in both subjects getting out of the vehicle on Y highway just outside of Amoret. The subjects got into a physical fight. During the altercation the Hispanic male pulled a box cutter on the black male subject and stabbed him twice.

The Bates County Sheriff’s Office conducted an area canvass and located the Hispanic male hiding in a tree in the area of J and Y Highway in Amsterdam, MO.
