Vernon County Sheriff Re-Starts Inmate Work Day for 2015

VERNON COUNTY, Mo – With the weather warming up, Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher announced on Friday he has started the inmate workday program for this year.

Inmates were taken out to pick up trash on 54 Highway just west of Nevada Friday afternoon. “It’s a great way for the inmates in our jail to have a chance to give back to the community” said Mosher. The Sheriff said the program is voluntary and that more inmates volunteered to help then what they could take out at one time. “There is a list and they have to wait their turn to go out, but that’s a good thing.”

The inmate work day was started in the summer of 2013 after Sheriff Mosher took office.
