VERNON COUNTY, MO – A Texas resident is in custody following a drug bust by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, John Garcia, 35 of Grande City, Texas was taken into custody after Sheriff’s Deputies found nearly 2.1 ounces of crystal methamphetamines in a semi-truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Nevada.
According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, his office received information of drug activity in the Walker area involving the semi. Undercover detectives started surveillance on the semi shortly after. “When the semi stopped in the Wal-Mart parking lot, we surrounded the vehicle” said Mosher. The Sheriff said Garcia was taken into custody after deputies found the crystal meth along with drug paraphernalia. “This was a large amount of crystal meth and we believe he was trying to sell it in Vernon County” Mosher said.
Garcia is being charged with a B felony drug trafficking, and a D felony charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash only.
