Road Work on I-49 Will Slow Traffic

The Missouri Department of Transportation is encouraging area residents to make alternative travel plans to bypass the resurfacing project on I-49.

According to MoDOT Officials, I-49, between Rich Hill in Bates County and Route 54 in Nevada in Vernon County, will see contractor crews resurfacing and upgrading guardrails in the 20 mile stretch.

Officials say, in addition to multiple lane closings, drivers will experience a reduced speed limit of 60 miles per hour through the work zone. The $8.1 million projected is slated to begin on Monday, weather permitting, and be completed after July 1st.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reminds motorists to use caution, be alert for flashing arrows on trucks, and slow down.
